Reality Vs. Illusion
Reality is something that is unique to each and every one of us. What one person may perceive as “normal” or “comforting” may be torturous to another. IF you have ever known anyone who was operating in an altered state of mind (i.e. on drugs, medication, drunk, schizoid, etc.), then you know just what I mean. I want to talk to you about YOUR reality today. What is your definition of what is real and valid in your life? And how do you go about expressing and living out this reality in your daily life?
Do you allow other people to paint reality for you, or do you boldly define what it is? I ask these questions because many of us are in the first category: we allow external persons, places, events, and ideas to determine what is and is not our reality. Are you accepting another person’s BS definition of love? Are you going to a job that you are overqualified to work? Do you dim your star to make others comfortable and less intimidated? If so, then you are living OUTSIDE of your reality.
A lot of the suffering that we endure on a daily basis is CHOSEN. Yes, I said that! Often we choose to allow the details of our lives to overwhelm us and bring us to a point of no inspiration, and no real drive to succeed and be happy. Suffering occurs when we as individuals refuse to closely examine our definitions of reality and what we do and do not want in our lives. So, I challenge you today to ask yourself, “Are you keeping it REAL with YOU?” Are you living the best life you can now? IF the answer is no, what is holding you back from doing so?
Psychologists say that the mind is the most powerful ‘drug’ on the planet. By this, they mean that the mind has the power to create and/or negate any and every reality and illusion known to humankind. Don’t believe me? Close your eyes and visualize yourself on the Southernmost Shore of Antarctica. What are you wearing? Is it cold? Is there anyone else with you? That visual exercise alone is proof that you can create the illusion of Antarctica in your mind; because I am 99.9% sure none of us have ever been there.
Dear friend, I encourage you to pursue your life’s desires and purposes NOW, because it is all we have. Don’t live in someone else’s reality telling yourself, “I’ll do what I want tomorrow”. Live fully in the present, and you will find yourself walking in reality.
Practical Rituals:
• Create a list of 10 questions for yourself about anything that has been concerning you lately, fold this paper and sleep with it under your pillow for as many as 3 nights. “Sleeping on it” is a powerful way to gain the answers to the questions you have!
• Examine your definitions of love, trust, honor, respect, and fulfillment. Do they need redefining? Have you been living in a way that is worthy of them? Journal about this experience

Part I: Love
When you hear the word ‘love’, what comes to mind? Do you think of flowers, kissing, and romance? Or do you think of hurt, pain and fear? Many of us have countless emotional scars because of love, or should I say love gone wrong. Many of us are holding on to outmoded, obliterated definitions of love that keep us bound in a cycle of destructive and negative relationships with ourselves and others.
There are many forms of love. Self-love, romantic love, obsessive love, and countless others. I want to talk to you today about the first, and most important one: SELF-LOVE. When we do not properly love ourselves, we fail to optimally love others. I would go as far as saying that this is why there is so much hurt and pain in this world. Few of us are loving ourselves, let alone properly loving one another. I encourage you to ask yourself today:
How much are you worth? Do you settle for second best? Do you carry yourself like a VIP?
You see, dear friend, if you walk around treating YOURSELF like you are not worth much (i.e. NOT demonstrating that you love yourself), how in the world can anyone else treat you like you are loveable? My high school drill team coach used to admonish us daily to “act how you want to be, and soon you will be how you act”. Those words never left me. I decided then to carry myself like royalty, and to work hard to surround myself with those who do the same. While I did not remotely succeed all the time, this practice has become a mainstay in my life. You see, I KNOW I am a VIP: Very Important (and Impeccable ) Person. Those of you who know me personally, know that I do not believe in anything less than this.
Each of us gets what we demand out of life. We get treated HOW WE ACT. So friend, if you are acting like you do not deserve love, respect, and care; stop wondering why those around you don’t love you the way that you want them to!
Today is the day that you can change your life, and start acting like a VIP. Roll out your OWN red carpet! Because one day, you will look back and regret not nurturing and loving yourself. When we open up our hearts to love and accept ourselves as we are in this moment NOW, G-d’s light shines on us and through us. Thereby attracting the love, respect, admiration, and companionship that each of us wants, needs, and deserves. Free your heart and mind to focus on self-love, and the rest will follow. I am here, waiting to talk to you about all of this and more! Don’t delay, contact me today.
Practical Ritual(s):
• Listen to the song “Why Don’t You Love Me” by Beyonce
• Add the following affirmation to your daily regimen of self-care: “I go toward my greater good”
• Journal about the following statement: “I love myself, therefore, I will__________________, by _______________________________.”

Belief
When I think about my beliefs, I am taken in a number of directions. This week’s motivation is inquisitive in nature. Focusing on what I believe in is never easy, but I am aware that it has to be done in order for me to grow, learn, and to evolve as a human being, and as a woman. Examining our beliefs is difficult, because it forces us to question the foundation of what we learned from our families of origin (those who raised us, and nurtured us). It forces us to closely examine and to excavate outmoded ways of thinking about our world as WE see it.
What we believed 5 or 10 years ago is not necessarily what we believe today, yet we often refuse to let go of what our 5 or 6 year old selves internalized as the truth. Would you continue to try to wear the same pair of shoes you wore as a teenager? Would you wear undergarments from when you were in college as an adult? If not, why do you continue to live according to outmoded truths? If so, how has that befitted you presently?
I want to encourage you to conduct an investigation. Look closely at the things that you believe and ask yourself WHY you believe that to be true. Ask yourself WHO benefits from you believing that? And if it is not you, then why are you living by that outmoded truth? You see, my goal is NOT to be your friend; my goal is to get you to examine your life as it is NOW, and to help you to optimize it and to get the best out of it. I am here to help you to reconnect with your best self. Join me in this self-improvement process today; I am here to help you!
Today, I challenge you to understand and do the following:
• Use your hands and heart and your mind to get at your core beliefs (the ‘why’)
• Your BELIEFS become your THOUGHTS become your ACTIONS become your LIFESTYLE
Practical Rituals:
*Create 5 “I Believe Affirmations”
* Listen to the song: "Don't Stop Believing" by Journey
Journal about the following questions:
What are your core beliefs?
How do these beliefs impact your daily life?
My belief system is influenced by:
What are your beliefs about love and relationships?
I believe that my self-image says:
What do you believe you are capable of achieving?
How has religion impacted your belief system?
How has spirituality impacted your belief system?
Homework:
Journal about how your beliefs have helped or hindered your life. What things do you want to believe in, but have difficulty accepting as truth?

Openness
Last week, I talked to you about how important it is to operate from a spirit of gratitude in our daily lives. I also spoke about the need to show ourselves gratitude through means of self-love and self-care. What did you implement in your life to take care of yourself and show gratitude? What did you learn from your expressions of gratitude towards the world, and all of the people in it? Feel free to get in touch with me to tell me what you learned and felt! I would love to share your journey.
This week, I want to share my thoughts with you about Opening Up or Openness. Last week, while on vacation, I sat beside the ocean and marvelled at how expansive, and amazing it was (albeit oily). Being there in nature tends to enhance my intuition, and ability to reflect, so I began to think about what the ocean represents on a metaphoric level, and how it relates to life. I realized that the oceans power lies in its ability to bring forth life (as all water does), and to violently take it away. When you look out onto the ocean, all you see is expansiveness and well, ocean. Its openness knows no limits, and has immeasurable power.
You dear friend, must learn to open up and receive an acknowledge YOUR OWN power. Own your power to be independent from negative person, places, things and ideas. Acknowledge your power to be great and successful. Walk in your power to live your purpose. Because when we close ourselves off, we remain fragmented, and removed and limited from all of the blessings that have been put in our lives. This journey to openness is yours to begin ANYTIME you decide, when will you begin?
As your life coach, I am here to encourage, uplift, and support you in this journey. I am waiting to hear from you!
Practical Rituals:
* Download/Listen to the song: Open Your Eyes, You Can Fly by Lizz Wright
* Read the poem: To Come Home To Yourself (see attached document)
* Say the following Affirmation: "Being open about my kinks and quirks makes me more open to experience life"
* Drink LOTS of water, connect with the natural source of life within you by maintaining your health.

Gratitude
When I woke up this morning, the first thing I did was to thank my Creator for giving me life and breath. I then went into my kitchen and made myself some fresh blended watermelon juice, and had some quiet time. This is my morning regimen of self-care.
You see, the first step to ANY sort of change is to have GRATITUDE for the exact moment that we stand in now. Although you are hurting, and filled with doubt and pain about your past, you can rest in the comfort of now knowing that you are still alive and filled with purpose. The next step, is to engage in rituals of self care. What is your self-care ritual? How do you feel when you take care of yourself? And what about when you don't?
Your challenge today, is to spend 15 minutes worth of quiet time reflecting (and journaling) on what you are grateful for. What gratitude do you have toward yourself? And your loved ones? What about those who have hurt/harmed you? How can these things lend to your progress in the future?
Practical Rituals:
* Download/Listen to the song: What I Cannot Change by LeAnn Rimes
* Read the poem: Still I Rise by Maya Angelou
* Say the following Affirmation: "I Am Supported by Life"
* Eat one piece of fresh fruit or a vegetable; taking care of our outer selves aids in better caring for our inner selves.
